Product Reviews--FEREI HL08AA Headlight Trial Report
2015-10-13 Haha Outdoor-Yang Qian Ferei Asia Limited
Thanks to Shenzhen Ferei Lighting Co., Ltd. Yang always provided the Ferei HL08AA headlights as a prize for the 2015 China Mountaineering Association's 173rd Primary Outdoor Instructor Training Outstanding Student.
The HL08AA headlights were tested twice in July 2015 in the China Mountaineering Association's 171st Phase of Outdoor Instructor Training and August in the 173rd Primary Outdoor Instructor Training Field Practice Class.
Packaging and product specifications (from the product specification):
The tone is black, the inside of the headband is red, and the red and white flying LOGO on the power switch and headband play a decorative role, which is quite satisfactory in terms of color and shape.
In outdoor activities, most women do not like to use a headlight with a battery box behind the headband compared to the headlight with the battery compartment behind the light holder, because of the heavy weight. The HL08AA with aerospace aluminum has a weight of 145 grams without a battery, plus a weight of about 230 grams with three 5A batteries. It is also considered lighter in the same type of headlights. After the battery box lock switch is pushed up, the battery compartment can be ejected, which has anti-intelligence design. The disadvantage is that the lock can be easily opened.
The design of the waterproof DC plug box is very useful. When the head light is stored in the backpack, the plug is unscrewed, which can avoid the loss of power when the headlight switch is accidentally touched.
Power switch design is Ferei’s LOGO, very eye-catching. There are three modes of operation: bright light, adjustable light, and flash. Mode switching is performed by pressing the switch.
The aerospace aluminum casing is very good in texture, with a focused white mixed beam suitable for walking, but the central highlights are dazzling. Not suitable for close working use. The maximum light intensity indicated in the product specification is 12000 cd and the maximum luminous flux is 220 lumens. Unfortunately, I cannot focus.
On July 29, No. 171, the primary outdoor instructor trained the field practice class. Because there was no night walk, it was only used in the camp. On a cloudy day, after adjusting to the glare mode, the cliff was exposed at a distance of about 100 meters. The leaves on the mountain were clearly visible.
The picture is illuminated in the light mode with a range of 3 meters, because only the phone takes a photo, and the distant shot does not appear.
On August 18th, the 173th primary outdoor instructor trained the field practice class. In the red grass field of Leigong Mountain area, before the evening fog, it began to rain heavily when camping. The following picture shows the fog at the time.
In the rain and fog, the HL08AA is adjusted to a strong light mode, and the penetration force is about 50 meters. At that time, when the cell phone was out of power, a lot of photos were taken with the student's cell phone. Unfortunately, he was mistakenly deleted after he came back. I found only one picture of the night cooking in the HL08AA lighting, the brightness is very good. After a long time use, the heat of the light is still high.
Waterproof grade "IPX4" written in the manual, used no stress in the rain that night.
The light’s tube has an adjustment range of approximately 90 degrees and is ideal for wearing a hat or helmet. Just do not know if it can maintain effective adjustment after long-term use.
Three outstanding students of the 173 Primary Outdoor Instructor Training Basic Skills won the Ferei HL08AA headlight as a prize, and the pictures below show the prizes won by the winners.
